Our April CC Heroes!

At Catholic Charities, we're once again recognizing our “CC Heroes” – our staff and volunteers who work tirelessly in service of our neighbors. Each month, we're honoring a staff person and a volunteer from a different Catholic Charities agency and highlighting their work.

This month, we're pleased to recognize Esi Ashun and Tara Madrid from Catholic Charities Care Coordination Services.

Tara is a Case Manager in the LEAD (Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion) Program, where she works with individuals who have committed non-violent crimes to help them receive needed support rather than head directly into the criminal justice system. She is a positive and joyful person to work with and treats the people we serve with kindness, gentleness and dignity. A true asset to Catholic Charities Care Coordination, we're pleased to honor her with March's Sister Serena Branson Award:

Esi started with Catholic Charities this fall as part of a Community Health Project intern through SUNY Schenectady. She hit the ground running, connecting with clients and showing a willingness and eagerness to learn. She has since accepted a full-time position with Catholic Charities as a Wellness Advocate! We are thrilled to welcome her to the team and present her with the Maureen Joyce Award for her volunteerism:

Each year, Catholic Charities honors one program with the Kathleen Picotte Award. Kathleen Picotte embodied the mission of Catholic Charities through her generosity and concern for the vulnerable. Today, we're recognizing the award finalist from Care Coordination Services, the Harm Reduction Reentry Program. The program meets people where they are to provide life-saving support such as overdose preventions, treatment readiness and referrals.
