Repairs Made to Veteran's Flood-Damaged Home

ILION - When flooding hit Ilion in 2013, Lloyd Gallup's home was seriously damaged and in need of a new foundation. Fortunately, he was connected to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany in 2015. Charities, together with the Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency, the U. S. Dept. of Agriculture Rural Development and the Mohawk American Legion, helped Gallup get the assistance he needed.
Wilhelmina Murray-Davis, program director for Catholic Charities' disaster response and recovery, estimated the cost of repairs to be about $60,000. She credits a "caring contractor", a GoFundMe set up in Lloyd's name, and the teamwork of the various agencies involved with ensuring the foundation get repaired.
On Friday, a ribbon cutting was held at Gallup's home. Full repairs are expected to be completed next month.
