Provides eldercare respite services, information and assistance, support services and groups to assist caregivers as they care for their older spouses, parents, and friends. This program is available throughout the 14 counties of our Diocese.

LONG TERM CARE OMBUDSMAN PROGRAM

Protects the health, safety, welfare, human, and civil rights of people living in nursing homes and adult care facilities through volunteer Ombudsmen in 10 counties – Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Schoharie, Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga, Warren, Washington, and Hamilton. Ombudsmen represent residents and work on their behalf with facility administrators, staff, and family members to achieve resolution of their complaints.

Manages housing and retirement communities for seniors and for individuals who have mobility impairments. DePaul Housing communities offer market rate one and two bedroom apartments and cottages and subsidized one bedroom and studio apartments. All applicants for subsidized communities must be income qualified; senior applicants must meet age eligibility requirements. Eligibility is determined based on an application and an eligibility interview. DePaul Housing is committed to providing equal housing opportunities.

The Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Initiative seeks to alleviate the financial and emotional burden placed on caregivers. Services are offered in a 10-county region and provide a wide range of free support and respite services for caregivers including:
- Care Consultation & Caregiver Support
- Referral to home and community-based services
- Alzheimer's and Dementia Education
- Family Consultation & Counseling
- Support Groups
- Respite Care
