United Way 100 Heroes

United Way of the Mohawk Valley is celebrating 100 years serving the community. To celebrate, they are recognizing 100 heroes that have greatly impacted those in need. Here at Catholic Charities, we would like to highlight some of our own who were featured in this list.

Billie Jo Snyder works with Herkimer County Catholic Charities in her role in addressing domestic violence. Over the past six years, she has been able to show compassion and support to those who need it the most through the 24-hour domestic violence hotline. Through her work assisting those in dire situations, Billie Jo has been able to be there for many across the Herkimer community.

Maureen Petrie is the Catholic Charities Executive Director of Herkimer County. Her work, especially in housing and food, has been very beneficial to many in the community. Maureen has also been passionate about social justice and equity in the Mohawk and Herkimer counties. Her work to help others in multiple different areas has led to many getting the help they need in the communities that she serves.

Kimberly Bowen is well known for her work as the Project Manager at Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency (MVCAA). She has also played a large role with Catholic Charities during the Christmas season. Through Operation Sunshine, Kim took the time to shop for all families in need during this time. She has positively impacted the Herkimer County of Catholic Charities as her work in the community impacted many families in the area.

All three of these heroes are more than deserving of the honor as they have touched the lives of countless members of their communities and through many different services. Their help is an example of what we try to be here at Catholic Charities. Allowing themselves to devote themselves to helping others is something we feel is necessary to acknowledge and praise.
